The standard ensures durability, reflectivity, and safety for road markings under various traffic and environmental conditions.

Part 1: Specification for Constituent Materials and Mixtures 
Defines the raw materials and their proportions, including:
Resin Binder: Typically petroleum resin (minimum 18%) or aliphatic hydrocarbon resin plasticized with mineral oil to hold the mixture together.
Pigments: Titanium dioxide (typically 12%) for whiteness or yellowness.
Glass Beads: Minimum 20% premixed for retro-reflectivity (night visibility), compliant with standards like BS 6088 Class A or EN 1424.
Aggregates and Extenders: Light-colored silica sand or other fillers for bulk.
